Matt De Pretis
Matt DePretis, CPA, has over 25 years of experience providing business consulting and tax planning solutions to business owners and their privately-held companies in a variety of industries. Matt leads the team at DePretis CPAs and sets high standards for exceptional client service.
After graduating from Long Beach State University, Matt began his public accounting career at one of the now “big four” CPA firms before moving into private industry which included eight years as corporate Controller for a capital equipment manufacturer and lessor.
Matt is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs. He is a former Board Chairman of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Rotary Club of Pleasanton, a Board member of the Pleasanton Chamber’s Business and Community Political Action Committee, and Treasurer for the Pleasanton Chamber Foundation.
Colleen Hornbacker, CPA, is the tax manager at DePretis CPAs. She is an experienced professional serving the tax and accounting needs of clients in a variety of industries for over 25 years.
After graduating from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, Colleen began her public accounting career at Arthur Young & Company. After spending a few years in public accounting, she joined Apple Computer, Inc. where she served in various functional areas performing accounting, analysis, and planning work for over 10 years. Colleen and her family have deep roots in the Livermore Valley community. Colleen is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Kayla Stevko, CPA, is the accounting manager at DePretis CPAs. Kayla has extensive experience in financial accounting, auditing and other attest engagements. After graduating from Biola University, Kayla began her public accounting career at a national CPA firm where she worked for seven years. During her time with this firm Kayla oversaw financial statement audits, served as a national training instructor to the firm, and spoke about recent accounting and auditing changes at conferences. She has spent the second part of her career at local CPA firms working with business owners on accounting and tax strategies. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a Continuing Professional Education instructor for Becker Professional Education.
Sunde Edwards-Stewart is the Administrative Operations Manager at DePretis CPAs. Sunde keeps the day-to-day functions of the firm running smoothly in addition to providing outstanding support to our clients.
Donna McKey, CPA, has over 25 years of experience in both private industry and public accounting. She serves the tax and accounting needs of privately-held businesses in a variety of industries as well as individuals, trusts and estates.
After graduating from California State University East Bay, Donna acquired a well rounded background which encompasses everything from bookkeeping to controller responsibilities at several businesses in the Tri-Valley. Donna is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Shayan Khales, CPA, MST, uses his well-rounded background to serve the tax needs of businesses and their owners in a diverse range of industries.
After graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in Corporate Accounting and Finance as well as a Master’s degree in Taxation, Shayan began his career with Ernst & Young, one of the “big four” CPA firms. Shayan is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Stacy Flaming provides a range of bookkeeping services to our clients. She has a unique ability to clean up and organize muddled bookkeeping situations and has worked for our firm since its founding in 1999.
Joan Steckler, CPA, has over 30 years of tax and accounting experience serving a wide variety of clients. Her expertise includes working as CFO to the family offices of high-net worth individuals and their related family partnerships, trusts and private foundations. Joan holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley and a master’s degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
Miranda Kazakevich is the Executive Assistant to Managing Partner, Matt DePretis. Miranda assists Matt in a wide-range of activities to help him lead the team at DePretis CPAs with excellence.
